DEEP PURPLE release their new album “Turning to Crime” today.
After their chart-topping success last year with “Whoosh!”, the band is now delivering just 15 months after their last release. The loyal Deep Purple fans thus receive a follow-up album from a band that is still riding high on their latest success. Shortly after the release of the predecessor, the band was highly praised for their creativity and wealth of ideas, and this creative journey now gains new momentum with “Turning to Crime”.
And this, despite the fact that the new album was not written by Deep Purple for the first time, but was recorded by other artists. However, the band has once again relied on their long-time companion and producer Bob Ezrin. The concept behind it suggests that Deep Purple must submit to the accusation of a musical crime. The “Rock Police” accuse them of using cover versions on the new album, which is seen as a crime among connoisseurs. Among them are studio recordings that have already been released, such as those by Fleetwood Mac, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels or Bob Dylan.
