Album highlight: “Love of My Life” by jazz musician Nils Landgren
A dream between jazz, orchestra and friendship

A new album highlight from Kontor New Media’s digital distribution: As one of the most successful European jazz musicians of recent decades, Nils Landgren spans a wide musical spectrum on “Love of My Life”. In addition to touching original compositions, there are songs by Cat Stevens, Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Weill, Herbie Hancock and companions such as Joe Sample and Ida Sand.
This wide-ranging repertoire exemplifies the integrative power of the musician: jazz, songwriting and orchestral timbres merge into a personal statement.
As is so often the case, this album is also a musical family affair. Landgren is accompanied by Sweden’s piano shooting star Joel Lyssarides, double bass master Lars Danielsson, drummer Robert Ikiz – also a permanent member of the Nils Landgren Funk Unit – and Ida Sand.
For Landgren himself, this project fulfills a lifelong dream. In the liner notes, he still describes himself as a “boy from the small Swedish steelworkers’ village of Degerfors” who can hardly believe that he is allowed to record with a symphony orchestra and his closest musical friends. Anyone who knows him knows that these words are an expression of genuine modesty.
With “Love of My Life”, Nils Landgren has created an album of orchestral grandeur and personal closeness at the same time. The album is released via the ACT Music label and is represented digitally by Kontor New Media. This means that the album is available on all common platforms.
